Mike Hazel and his wife, Heather, chose this community for its rural character and peaceful quality of life. Two of their three children attend Hebron Elementary School, and one attends RHAM.
In 2006, Mike was appointed by the Board of Selectmen to fill an open position on the Hebron Board of Finance. Today, he is Chairman of that board.
Mike graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of both the Connecticut and American Societies of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, Mike is also a Fellow of the Life Office Management Association.
Mike is a finance director at The Hartford, where he leads the External GAAP Reporting team which is responsible for the company's financial reporting, including reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
"The past few years have been particularly challenging for the Town and for the Board of Finance. The continuing economic challenges have made it increasingly important for the Town's boards and administration to work together to meet the needs of the Town's residents in the most efficient manner," said Mike. "Despite these challenges, I continue to enjoy serving my community, and I look forward to working with the residents, boards, and administration to see the Town through this difficult time"
